Subject: Tips from players

Hi Jammers,
here are some notes from Dan Magallanes to all of you, that
will make life much easier for the all players and tournament staff and make the event run smooth.
Please read the following carefully
-Jumpi

"You've heard most of this last year, and believe me, it makes a HUGE difference in efficiency and accuracy of your music and routines.  These suggestions are a chance for us all to work at a professional level and make our sport, and Italian hosts, look great.

  • Pre-record your music on a CD.
  • Have the 3-minute, 4 minute, and 5 minute versions ready and on separate discs.
  • Record back-up discs.
  • If you don't have a CD burner, this is 2003, trust me, you know someone who does!
  • Label your CD and case clearly with your name.
  • The announcer will NOT mix two songs for you during your routine--do that in advance on a CD or even cassette tape.
  • Practice your routines so you don't need any time warnings:  This will eliminate any chance of us in the sound booth making a mistake (and we will).
  • If you need time warnings, write them clearly on the CD and case as well.
  • Please minimize your time at the sound booth to dropping off and picking up your CD.
  •         Other important jobs of the announcer are to keep the tournament running, time routines, keep the fans interested and the sponsors exposed.
  •         The announcer is NOT there to cue your tape (for those of you still in 1982), page players & friends, take requests for music, or pick you a "good tune play to"
  • Please turn in your music as soon as you are asked to. If you have two copies, you can practice with the other in the mean time.
  • Please pick up your music as soon as the event is over.  Last year we sold the unclaimed CD's on the way to the party for margarita money.
Some other notes to those who haven't traveled much lately.  Avoid razor blades and knives in your nail kits--they are likey to be confiscated.  The same goes for silicone spray--it is cumbustable and will be taken away before you board.  We will have to rely on our wonderful, Italian hosts to have a good supply of silicone on hand.

Looking forward to seeing you all in Rimini in a few weeks. Travel safely.

magman"
