I really appreciate your response. I have a little more information
now regarding this family line. I have reached as far back as I can go with
one ancestor. William Arnot was born June 16, 1766 and died 1853. He lived in
Fife, Scotland and tradition has said for years that it was his grandfather
that came to Scotland from France during the time of the persecution of the
Huguenots, in the reign of King Philip. This is all the information that I have
and do not know how to retrieve much more. How difficult do you think this
would be to find the original surname to this family and do you suggest maybe
hiring a professional genealogist for such a research? Any help is so much
appreciated. Thank you!
