Warm greetings to you all from the Pontet family living in the UK. We are
descendants of the Waldensian Pontetto, who subsequently moved into
France, Switzerland and Britain.
Several PONTET families settled in London from the early 1700s: one from
Villar-Péllice in Italy; others came from Paris, and of these some originated
from the Savoie. These earlier families became extinct in Britain as far as the
name PONTET is concerned, having no 'males' to perpetuate the name. The
only remaining family of PONTET in Britian today are the descendants of
Henry PONTET, some of whose offspring left Paris in the late 1790s, going
first to Dublin before crossing to England in the mid-1800s - and now with
sufficient 'males' to perpetuate the name for some generations to come!
