Myogen has initiated a survey of the genes (cardiogenomics) and proteins
(cardioproteomics) that are differentially expressed in normal and diseased
human hearts. Knowledge of these differences might allow us to identify
the complete set of genes that are involved in the disease process. Our
cardiogenomics efforts have led to the identification of more than 200 genes
that might be involved in the failing heart. Approximately 30% of these
genes code for novel proteins not defined in public databases.
