Accreditation is a continually evolving process. Regular reviews and updates have always been an integral component of CCHSA's program development. This continuous improvement effort is key to ensuring that our accreditation program encourages high-quality care, provides value-for-money, and leads the way in meeting the current and future needs of health care and service organizations. With the new accreditation program, we are building on the best components of our current program—one that has earned CCHSA the reputation as a world leader in accreditation—with value-added features and refinements that will further strengthen the accreditation process. Development work on the new accreditation program began in spring 2005 and will continues into 2007. Pilot testing begins February 2007. Input from our client organizations, surveyors, and CCHSA staff will ensure that the quality and integrity of this work increases the relevance and value of the accreditation program. As development is ongoing, we encourage client organizations involved in or preparing for an accreditation survey to continue to focus their efforts on the current program requirements. Improvements to the current program, such as patient safety goals and required organizational practices, and standards development, will occur in parallel as the enhanced program is finalized. CCHSA views its surveyors and client organizations as partners in this venture, and will continue to communicate with them every step of the way. We look forward to your feedback and involvement.
