siamo 21!!!
questo messaggio (appena letto su Seance) da' qualche notizia sulle
foto di copertina scelte per AENT...se ho capito bene la band ha
rinunciato all'immagine scelta per motivi di $$$ ed ha ripiegato (se
cosi' si puo' dire) sulla foto attuale.

Viene anche citata la 'strana' versione italiana con le foto
invertite (che Silvia e Fabio hanno mostrato a Steve al Barfly,
giusto?).

Mi chiedo se ritenete utile che spedisca su nightfriends alcune
notizie trovate su seance, oppure faccio un lavoro inutile?
Se siete gia' iscritti su Seance e seguite con attenzione, fatemi
sapere, cosi' evito di spedire notizie gia' lette...mi sa che faro'
un sondaggio a riguardo...

about the Italian album cover (which reversed the front and back
images) ... thought it might be of interest ... here it is ...


Getting the cover finished was not easy ...

Basically we had nothing agreed upon despite various submissions
and deadlines were blowing by ... and it was getting to be put up
or shut up time ... or no cover time.

We had someone doing some photo research who came up with a nice
shot of two little girls playing on a beach with a large beach ball.
Very arty, very pretty .... then as we were all reviewing it, Steve
turned it upside down and it was the most amazing image ... sky/beach
was indeterminate, girls/shadows too. The beach ball looked like a
moon. It is hard to explain but it was just the coolest thing in terms
of how it worked both upside down and rightside up. It had a real
ethereal look and was a perfect fit for the album. We were totally
thrilled until ...

We tried to secure the rights and the photographer, who evidently was
used to dealing with larger entities than Church Inc., asked for five
figures. We begged and scratched and .... but couldn't find a number
that would work for both parties.

So on to plan B ... and yet another little Church crisis to make sure
the blood keeps pumping .... We tried to recreate the look of the
photo, but it was embarassing ... couldn't even come close. We had
some pretty lame options that no one was happy about. Big trouble ...

Fortunately, Reid (Ed) had earlier sent some really neat images that I
liked a lot -- one very haunting B&W tinted one with flowers in
particular -- but which we all had kinda forgot about. So we made
contact and got a new look at some new stuff and the ocean shots
really jumped out at us. Reid worked incredibly hard to get it done
for us and deserves heaps of thanks for that. He was amazing.

As I mentioned in another post, I wanted the back to be the front as I
thought the sign worked great on the back cover and I loved the
panorama on the front. Steve thought that was too obvious, so
eventually we reversed it. But I'm glad the Italians gave it a shot
inadvertent as that might be!! My will be done ...

But this whole ramble is just yet another way to thank Reid and while
I have you one the line ... to give a plug for the new Cracker album
"Forever" because they are another "80's band" who are not that at
all. Viral marketing indeed ...

I'll save the track listing saga for another day ...
