hello friends,

we have some regretful news to report, and we wanted to try to let the fans
know as much in advance this time....

** although we were trying to wait as long as we could, hoping that julian's
knee would get better in time for the remaining TWO shows with WEEZER that
we have scheduled for JULY 29 & 30, we now have come to the conclusion that
THE STROKES will NOT be able to perform on these two shows so we must
cancel. **

jules' knee is not healing as quickly as we thought and it hurts him to even
move around much, so we have to think about his recovery, most importantly,
so that he heals properly...

with the fall tour already routed out, it will be difficult to add extra
dates into the tour (for example, if we added shows in all the cities we had
to cancel weezer dates in, it would be impossible because the ENTIRE tour
would have to be rearranged and the venues aren't available except for on
the days that we already have them scheduled for.)

we've received lots of angry e-mails, and i just want to let you all know
that we DON'T hate your city because we had to cancel or because it's not on
the fall tour....
we're just looking out for julian's speedy recovery...if it were possible at
all to make it there, we would.

we're still trying to think of ways we can make it up, but it's not as easy
as just adding a tour date in the fall....please stay with us and we'll
figure something out! the support of our fans is very important to all the
guys in the band!!

we sincerely regret any disappointment and inconveniences we caused any of
you guys who bought tix to these weezer shows....
it's extremely tough on the guys when they have to cancel any scheduled
appearance and we know how bad it suck for the ticketholders.
for the record, weezer has been extremely gracious and understanding and
they're putting on REALLY great shows on this tour...you should go check
them out regardless if you can...

for you kids in EUROPE, JAPAN, SOUTH AMERICA, AUSTRALIA, SOUTH EAST ASIA,
MEXICO, AFRICA, NEW ZEALAND, and anywhere i may have forgotten at the
moment...

sit tight, i'll have some info regarding the new single "SOMEDAY" and
release dates shortly....

b-sides will be:
home recording versions of 'alone, together' and 'is this it' that the guys
did in their apartment on their 4-track a couple years before the album came
out....

** BRAZIL is the FIRST country to get the re-broadcast of the "MTV2 $2-Bill
Show" go to www.thestrokes.com to find out when it will be broadcast in
BRAZIL...click on NEWS section of site **

** MTV2 in the U.S. will begin showing the video for SOMEDAY next monday,
July 29th...it will go to the rest of the world shortly after that **

that's it for now, sorry to bring bad news two times in a row...hopefully,
next time we'll have some positive stuff to report....

the band is rehearsing and writing new material a lot recently...
been inundated with e-mail from you guys lately, don't know if i can respond
to all of them, but i do at least read them all...
