Rome - Central Archaeological Area: The Imperial Fora. Satellite Views (1998, 2006 & 2007), Bird's Eye Views (2004), & Plans:'Pio-Castasto urbano di Roma' 1819-1824 [Folio's in large-scale & color].
During the last month or so GOOGLE EARTH (June-July 2008) updated the satellite image folio collection for the City of Rome and the surrounding region.
I have a new series of aerial views of the Imperial Fora & and the individuals forums and the Markets of Trajan. In comparision to the previous series of Google Earth view of Rome 2005-present these are by far the most detailed. These new views show either the completion of several recent archaeological excavations with the Imperial Fora (Forum of Augustus & the Temple of Peace: Note the details of the recently excavated marble flooring of the Temple) [1] & and the Metro C excavations in the Piazza Venezia [2].
As well as the start of the continuation of the archaeological excavations in the Forum of Caesar (2006-07). [3]. The trench like structure first unearthed in Summer of 2006 can now be clearly seen in the new aerial view of Forum of Caesar. See: 3.1. below.
The new images of the Imperial Fora in my collection are after the selection folio's of the 'Pio-Castasto urbano di Roma' 1819-1824 (area Imperial Fora).
