Dear Members,
Since Feb. 1999 until the present I been conducting my own research
on
the recent archaeological investigations & related studies in the
Imperial Fora of Rome (1995-2005), and I finally finished collecting
the materials for an independent review of findings from these past
archaeological undertakings, restoration works, exhibits,
international
publications and other documentry resources, etc.
My question pertaining to formulating a detailed & comprehensible
bibliography for the reader (ranging from entry level university
students to the serious scholar) of Roman archaeology (Classical,
Christian, Medieval & urban), etc.
One recommendation I recieved from Prof. James E. Packer (The Forum
of
Trajan, 1997) was too formulate the bibligraphical listings as
follows:
I. Forum of Trajan
A. Basilica Ulpia
1. Description
i. Earlier Phase
ii. Later Phase
2. Excavations
i. 1907
ii. 1932
3. Bibliography
i. Ancient Sources
ii. Modern Sources by Date, lastest entry first....etc.
The problem is how too incorporate resources & materials (i.e) or
related topics that are relevent to the study of the archaeological
investigations in the Imperial Fora from the prespective of the
history
of the excavations and studies, new cartographical & topogrphical
materials and photographic images that fall outside the standard
references as cited in E. Stienby (LTUR 1994-2000) or A.
Claridge "Rome" 1998 M. Andreussi, Notiziario Bibliografico di Roma e
Suburbio 1997-2000, in: Bull. Com, CII, 2001. M. Andreussi,
Notiziario
Bibliografico di Roma e Suburbio 2001-2002, in: Bull. Com, CIV, 2003.
And so forth.
My primary question is that what is the best way to incorporate new
materials in the bibliography such as: Newspaper accounts c. 1999-
present; Images: Satellite, aerial, area photos of the Forums,
individual images of the excavations (those of the findings &
artifacts
recovered); Maps of the Forums (early 19th Century to present);
education materials made availlble by the City of Rome (i.e) guide
books & placards or billboards located at each of the individaul
forums
describing the recent excavated ruins; Color images of the new model
of
the Imperial Fora area (along images and accounts of the 3 previous
models of the area (1933, 1913, 1906);etc, etc, etc....
What is the best way to incorporate new biographical materials of
scholars and archaeologist who have studied the site from Carlo Fea
to
prof. Angelo Bottini (New SAR of Rome) (i.e) as well as earlier
scholars: C.Ricci, A.M. Colini & A. Munoz, etc....?????
Any suggestions would be grateful!
Thank you
