A seguire

transumanesimo.

O magari saltano fuori cose condivisibili...

Venezia, 18 - 20 Settembre 2011

La settima edizione della World Conference on the Future of Science è dedicata

L'evento è rivolto a tutti.

http://www.avaaz.org/it/it_internet_bavaglio/97.php?cl_tta_sign=2be785bba4f0d3bf\
12517310e3736bee

come io ho già fatto.

For results from Space Renaissance International's first Congress -- an
online conference including dozens of scientists, space commerce innovators
and other space enthusiasts from throughout the world, here the SRI news
release:

Space Renaissance International ‘s First Online Congress

world wide web - July 6th, 2011

With a membership composed of space enthusiasts all over the world, holding
a meeting on the Internet seems like just the thing to do. On two days, June
25 and 26, 2011, Space Renaissance International lived up to its name by
holding its first Congress on line.

Hosted by SRI President Adriano Autino and moderated by Florida space writer
G B Leatherwood, the Congress was attended by over 85 members and observers
from countries including Italy, the US, Australia, Chile, Mexico, Sri Lanka
and many others.

The main topics for discussion were downsizing the cost to orbit, space
industrialization, conveying public support and private investment for the
new space industry, urging governments to develop space based solar power,
and developing a space policy harmonizing the interests of all countries.
To implement these broad and extensive objectives, three projects were
presented for group discussion and approval: A civilization risk assessment
and management project; identifying the most promising space
industrialization development line; and a project to determine the
feasibility and design of a virtual O’Neill Habitat to be settled at an
Earth-Moon Lagrange point.

In its 2009 “Space Renaissance Manifesto,” SRI said “The resources of the
Solar System are nearly limitless, whether measured in energy (clean,
renewable, readily harvested,) valuable physical materials, or simply space
to live and grow. Even a tithe of those resources would allow every person
who will live this millennium to enjoy a standard of living higher than any
currently available on Earth.”
During the conference, Mr. Walter Putnam put it this way: “We need to open
new ways of looking at Earth and the Cosmos, with shared values of humanity,
rather than remaining locked into philosophies from the 19th and 20th
centuries, many from much earlier in history.”

Former NASA engineer and risk management specialist Dr. Feng Hsu added,
“Space renaissance is a new ideology which must replace socialism and
capitalism altogether. SRI is not just about space, it’s about sustainable
human development and survival.”

The Congress reconvenes on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, June 10, 2011, again
by Internet to finalize plans and accept individual responsibilities for
leadership of the projects approved in the first session. Anyone interested
in human expansion into the unlimited realm of space is invited to attend by
registering at the SRI web site, www.spacerenaissance.org.

Will future tech produce less equality or
more?<http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/more/poll20110804> (Aug 4, 2011)

Asked this question in a recently concluded poll, IEET readers could not agree
on an answer. Close to 30% said Less, close to 30% said More, and about the same
amount said Neither.

Will transformative new technologies - genetics, robotics, AI, nanotech, etc. -
lead to MORE equality among humans, or LESS equality?

(Via Alexandra Carmichael of Quantified Self<http://quantifiedself.com/>) "Nancy
Dougherty made her own set of "mindfulness pills" - placebos labeled Focus,
Willpower/Energy, Calm, and Happy. The pills were embedded with sensors that
transmitted signals to her phone, recording each time she took the different
pills, as well as her heart rate, activity rate, and sleep. Nancy works at
Proteus Biomedical, in case you're wondering how she made this self-experiment
happen. She learned that taking an "Energy" pill actually made her bike harder
to work and have a higher heart rate, and taking a "Focus" pill actually made
her do more work. Watch her fun talk on managing mood and playing with the
placebo effect below. (Filmed at the Bay Area QS Show&Tell Meetup #19, at

IEET Fellow David Eagleman likens the brain to a neural Parliament with
different political parties that are battling it out to steer the ship of state.

Steven Lee, the guidance, navigation, and control manager for the Mars Science
Laboratory mission at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, describes how
NASA plans to land and navigate its new Curiosity rover on the surface of Mars

<http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/more/h2011> Bryan
Singer<http://ieet.org/index.php/IEET/emergence_weekly>

In Bryan Singer's new web-ipsoded film "H+" , which looks pretty cool,
nano-neural implants leave a majority of the planet open to a lethal computer
virus or glitch or something. Of course this is as much of an argument against
neural prostheses as an apocalyptic plague movie is against living in a human
body, or an asteroid apocalypse film is against living on Earth. What it points
to, once the hubbub dies down, is the need to ensure that there are prudent
failsafes and firewalls built into all neural prostheses, something we are
already doing with wireless pacemakers and biomonitors.

Surgeon and inventor Catherine Mohr tours the history of surgery (and its
pre-painkiller, pre-antiseptic past), then demos some of the newest tools for
surgery through tiny incisions, performed using nimble robot hands.
Fascinating-but not for the squeamish.

Ciao!
